meet katie

Hi, I'm Katie, a mixed-Mohawk artist whose work explores the landscapes, colours, and textures of the places that inspire me. From paintings to beadwork, I approach every project with care and good intentions.

I am continuously inspired by nature, with my phone's camera roll attesting to my admiration of plants, water and the sky's many looks. These pictures have and continue to be one area of inspiration for my paintings. The small details and colours of trees and flowers are often the inspiration of my beadwork. I also integrate Haudenosaunee beading practices and techniques, honouring my roots.

I also enjoy painting memorial portraits of people and dogs who have passed on. Working from photographs that hold significance allows me to feel connected to the piece and encourages me to capture the details that are unique to the subject, capturing their presence.
